Born and raised in Gauteng, Desiree Winchester moved to KZN seven years ago and although she says with a laugh that it took some adjusting to the slower pace, she now considers herself a local and absolutely loves the lifestyle – "I wouldn't swop this for the world", smiles Desiree.

Before joining the Indaba Lodge team, Desiree worked at Bayview Lodge in Meerensee and is a familiar face with locals well known for her calm demeanour and excellent service.

This mom of two enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it is relaxing around a braai and listening to music with friends and family or attempting a challenging hike in nature; and as a Christian, Desiree always tries to focus her energy on the good in life. A real 'people's person', Desiree admits that she doesn't do 'down time' very well – "I am an easy going person with a big heart and come from a hugging family", laughs Desiree – her eyes light up and her love bubbles over when she chats about her 2 boys – "being a single mom is hard work, but they are my everything", she smiles.

A truly beautiful person inside and out, with an easy smile and eyes that always tell the truth, Des admits that although she tries to lead a healthy lifestyle she has a sweet tooth and can often be found snacking on chocolate and when asked what her favourite dessert is, her smile widens, "I just LOVE ice-cream", she says, "ever since I was little I always found place for it no matter what I had eaten before – I even enjoy ice-cream in winter".

Desiree's favourite me-time spa pamper is a full body hot stone massage which she finds very soothing. Making time for self-care is so important and Des also finds baking relaxing and can often be found with a mandala colouring book and art pens, which is a great way to clear the mind of negative energy.
